TAG : 50 Things that make me happy because I love it / them
It’s not every day that we can stop and take a moment to reflect on things that make us happy and that is exactly why I wanted to do this. I’ve been feeling a bit glum lately and needed to cheer myself up. It’s amazing how sitting and thinking of the things that make me happy immediately changed my mood. I have so many things to be grateful for and SOOOOOO many reasons to be happy. Here’s just a few…
1. My Husband, Carl and I met in 2000 and since day 1 we clicked. He is my best friend, has a heart of pure gold and a great Dad to our boys.
2. My Family, if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting any one of them you will know instantly that we LOVE each other deeply. We support each other, encourage each other and call each other to order when we need to. We laugh, cry, fight and love each other madly. We live life to the fullest, we’re loud, we laugh a lot and are actively involved in each other’s lives.
3. My boys, flip it, the love I have for these guys oozes out of me. I honestly believe that I love my kids more than any Mother out there (but don’t we all). There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for these guys. They are my passion, my inspiration and encouragement.
4. Cooking, I love it and love cooking for those around me.
5. Random road trips, although I don’t always travel well doing long distance in a car I love going on random road trips. As a child we did this often and even bunked school to do day trips with my Mom. I loved exploring all the small towns in the Western Cape
6. Online shopping, the convenience is the biggest plus for me (and having to take 2 kids with to the shops is such a challenge)
7. The smell of Johnson’s baby powder, completely random but I love it. Reminds me of childhood really, my late Lovey (Granny) would cover us in the stuff after bath time and I do the same with the boys.
8. Scented candles, to be specific any coconut or vanilla scented candles
9. Spending time with my Sisters, this is something that hardly happens lately as we’re all grown up, have our own lives and responsibilities but it’s still something I love
10. Seeing my beautiful Goddaughter, I swear whenever I see her she’s grown bigger. I just want her to stay my little Izzy-Rose petal forever
11. And I cannot forget about my Ethan, he was the first, I’m an Aunty because of him and it makes me so happy that although he’s almost a legal age he still loves his Lala and wants to be around his Lala
12. New makeup, yes I’m kind of a makeup addict with draws of stuff I’ve collected. But I just can’t help it. I love it. It’s the one thing that I can do that makes me feel girly in a house FULL of boys
13. Action movies, Carl hates it. I attempt to recreate every fight scene from a movie when it’s finished and he usually bears the brunt of my judo chops and flying kicks
14. Twilight books, Carl bought all the books for me for our First Christmas and I LOVE THEM
15. Sleep, but in the last 7 years my sleep went from 10hrs a night to 4hrs (Mom problems)
16. Christmas, my most favourite time of the year
17. New bedding makes me happy
18. Music from the 80’s, I’m an 80’s baby and grew up in a home filled with music and dance
19. Dancing, I would sneak into clubs from the tender age of 14 (sorry Mom and Dad) not for anything else but to dance and watching the older couples jazz
20. Sun downers on Clifton beach
21. Travelling, I have a whole post dedicated to places I need to see before I’m pushing up daisies
22. Vegetables, I was probably one of the few kids who loved ALL veggies from a young age. I could easily give up meat / chicken / fish for a life full of veggies
23. Peanut butter ice-cream
24. My friend Jodie’s mini cupcakes in a cone (dude I could probably eat 20)
25. Sunset drives with my Love
26. Babies, I love everything baby related. Glory if we were millionaires I’d be popping those pint sized buggers out annually.
27. I LOVE BEING PREGNANT, with all the ups and downs that come with gaining weight and growing a human and being a host makes me happy
28. Tattoos, I currently have 5 (well one consists of each kids name and could be considered as 7) and I’m itching for another
29. Having my nails done, something that has also slacked off since baby 2 arrived (2 years ago)
30. The smell of coconut oil, it reminds me of Saturdays spent at Newlands pool with family and friends
31. Swing ball, who didn’t play this as a kid
32. 30 seconds, although we think we’re legendary our family proved we are not in Paternoster. I think at one stage Lez and I had tears streaming down our faces
33. I love reading other blogs
34. Going on a date, with my Hubby obviously
35. Sitting eating ribs in the early hours of the morning
36. Writing personalised letters
