The year that was… 2014
A few days ago I read this recap of 2014 on Cindy A’s blog 3 Kids, 2 Dogs and 1 Old House and thought it was a good idea to try to sum up my 2014. So here goes. 1. What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before? 2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t make any new years resolutions i set goals for myself and try and work through them. No matter how long or short they take. 3. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve? Same way as i did last year. With a glass of bubbly, with my kids sleeping, and spending time with my Hubby. Maybe next year we’ll do something different. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes, my Gran. Lovey. 5. What countries did you visit? None but we’re hoping to change that during the next year or so. Let the planning begin. 6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014? Time. For myself, for gym, with my kids, definitely with Carl. Next years gonna be a biggy. D starts Grade R and as much as possible I want to be more hands on in his little life. I also registered with Unisa and need to buckle down and focus. 7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? There’s not one particular date, we’ve just been blessed this year. Yes there’s been a few bumps, but this year I’ve tried to focus less on the negatives and more on the positives. 8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Communicating better with Carl. We are so different in certain aspects of our life and it shows when we have communication challenges but this year we actually actively focused and made a difference on this. 9. What was your biggest failure? No use in focusing on negatives and failures. We’re alive and kicking, thats all that counts. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope, thankfully I’ve been healthy. However my household not so much. We’ve been hit with ALOT! 11. What was the best thing you bought? Definitely has to be my GHD, just makes life so much easier #hairproblems 12. Where did most of your money go? School fees and food, 2 kids in school is expensive! 13. What song will always remind you of 2014? Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud 14. What do you wish you’d done more of? Family time. I feel like the kids just grow so fast and I’ve only seen a little part of it. 15. What do you wish you’d done less of? Spent time on my phone #truestory 16. What were your favourite TV shows? 2 Broke Girls, Greys Anatomy, Rookie Blue, Mike and Molly, Modern Family. 17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Nope but there’s been a few relationships that have definitely changed. 18. What was the best book you read? None… sadly… unless kids books count. 19. What was your greatest musical discovery? Has to be without a doubt Ed Sheeran 20. What was your favourite film of this year? Not a fave really but great, The Giver and solely because my boy was in it (for only like 5min). 21. What did you do on your birthday? Exactly what I’ve always wanted to, NOTHING! I specifically said i don’t want anyone over, I’m not cooking, cleaning, baking, doing washing, NOTHING! 22. What kept you sane? Has to be a mixture of Carl and prayer. This year i have stressed like never before. I’ve worried, cried, felt like a bad Mom and yet had a blast. I came back to work after my maternity leave and it was such a huge adjustment (still is). 23. Who did you miss? Not sure, maybe my old girlfriends at times. Miss their laughs, talks, advice and just their faces. They were my rock through so many hard times. 24. Who was the best new person you met? Met a few ladies at the #CTMEETUP which was nice. Then I met a lovely young Mom of 2 named Jackie (well met her in Oct). 25. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014? Gods planning is perfect, its been a year of hardships, sadness, happiness and blessings BUT we have made it through.
Everything happens in his time and its always perfect. Till 2015! LT
