Terrible Toddler Phases
Am I the only Mom in the entire world battling at present?
Lately Joshuah (17 Months) has entered a weird inbetween phase, he no longer wants a dummy at night, he doesn’t want a bottle either, he has regressed to waking up every 2 – 3 hours to feed and will not let me out of his sight. He has even started throwing horrible temper tantrums. Like seriously, who is this child? He couldn’t have come out of my body. Is this just normal?
Nothing has changed in our lives, there’s been no changes at school either. I have no explanations as to what has triggered this.
Could it just be a pre-toddler phase he is entering? Or has the dreaded “terrible two’s” hit our home earlier than expected?
I can finally say, I am tired mentally, I am sleep deprived and have little to no energy for housework or cooking.
So if I’m missing in action for a while please bare with me, I am trying to find my feet and sanity.

We haven’t had any of the waking up at night thing but the tantrums! Oh dear God, the tantrums. He’ll go off for the smallest thing. I don’t know what to do anymore. You are not alone!

Its very comforting knowing that there’s others out there! Last night was just as bad.

Aww man. Grasping at straws here but have you tried putting some Horlicks in his night bottle? Maybe a check up at the doctor for his ears too. 17 month old shouldn’t be waking up like a newborn to feed. That must be so exhausting

Damn exhausting, I think I will definitely need to get him checked if this continues.
I do however suspect teething is also playing a big role as his fingers from last night have been glued to his gums.
There is no bottle that’s the problem, he will only drink a bottle at school or when I’m not around. That may be my first solution, introduce a bottle.

The tantrums for all 3 mine started at around this stage – so at least that is 100% the usual

Oh no!

Really? Other than slight teething he doesn’t seem to be showing any other signs of being ill.
Zayaan suggested I have his ears checked, that’s always a tricky one with little ones hey, its the one eina you can’t really see and then when a Doctor tells you it is you feel like a terrible parent.
