Dress your bump

Maternity Fashion… Love your bump

How times have changed, when I was pregnant with Danny in 2008 I definitely looked like a old frumpy Mom to be. I didn’t know that dressing your bump could be anything special and my main aim was to just fit my body into something comfortable.

Now fast forward 5 years, 2013 rocking my baby belly was amazing. I embraced the bump, loved the bump and put the bump on full display (still in a classy way). Being pregnant is when I feel my sexiest, my most self confident and happiest. I know it’s a bit weird considering you have no control over this growing boep and all the aches and pains that come along with it BUT I believe I rocked pregnancy!

Skip to 2015 and I look at my glowing sister in law and love that she’s as proud of her bump as I was. She looks absolutely radiantly healthy and seeing that blossoming boep is just Gods perfect miracle.

Recently a friend had asked me where I bought my maternity clothes as she was battling, this got me thinking. I never really owned much maternity things this time round, which is probably why I looked and felt better. Ladies, there are some fugly pregnancy items out there, but you need not limit yourself to the maternity wear racks.

Explore and enjoy, dress your bump, have fun with it, be comfortable and enjoy your pregnancy.

Here are a few tips:

1.     Show some skin

If you’re normally small-chested, pregnancy offers the best chance you’ll ever have to forego the padded bras and flaunt cleavage.

2.     Go Skinny

If you enjoyed wearing skinny jeans before you were an expecting mama, don’t be afraid to don tight-fitting pants now just because you’re preggers. Many maternity lines are now making stretchy, super-comfy (and chic!) skinny jeans and leather leggings that will fit and flaunt your new curves.

3.     Choose fitted over bulky

Reaching for bigger clothes to hide your size sounds like a good idea, but it only contributes to a bulky look (me in 2008). Instead, slim down your silhouette and emphasize the features that aren’t expanding with snug-sleeved tops, skinnier pants, and button-down shirts or blazers (from your pre-pregnancy wardrobe) left unbuttoned.

4.     Have fun with colour

Don’t limit yourself to black and neutral tones.

5.     Accessorize

Add a bit of bling, throw on a scarf / snood, layered necklaces, headbands, just have fun

6.     Every pregnant woman should invest in a good denim shirt which can be worn through pre / during / post pregnancy

Thanks to Pinterest it was easy finding a few outfit ideas:
