Date Night: The Prestige Experience
Last night Carl and I attended a work function at the Cine Prestige Theatre in Cavendish.
So whats so special about the Prestige Theatre?
Designed to treat audiences to the ultimate cinema experience, the two cinemas are decked out with 40 – 44 large leather chairs – a mix of single and double seats – that recline with the touch of a button, and are complete with a fitted snack tray and a refrigerated cup holder.
An exclusive VIP lounge area means you don’t have to queue for tickets or popcorn. Come inside and choose from the many gourmet-platter options available, which you can enjoy in the lounge or have delivered to you in the theatre.
In addition to the ultra-comfy chairs, the cinemas also boast the latest in digital-projector technology, offering crystal-clear images and quality surround-sound speaker systems.

Did it deliver on the “Ultimate cinema experience”?
I think I expected much more of a WOW (sleek chic) but other than that it was good. Seating was definitely more comfortable and everyone enjoyed the use of the buttons to control their seating experience, I think they could however do with an upgrade in the carpets in the cinema (old funny stripe but that’s my personal opinion). More sleek and chic to compliment the big red couches.
The food I can’t fault, was great, we shared an Entertainer platter, followed by popcorn, slushies, cooldrink and ended it off with a slice of Red Velvet cake and a Mississippi Mud pie (DEVINE). By then end of the experience we were stuffed, relaxed and so comfortable. The waitrons are very friendly, fast with their service and move in and out silently (always good when watching a movie) and BIG APPLAUSE to Chris who manages the Cine Prestige at Cavendish, great job! Last night was excellent.
As far as prices for tickets, well see below:
Normal ticket price : R110
Ster Kinekor club price : (Tuesday half price special) R55
Definitely something you should try once.
Ok, I’ve had my say for the day.
Till later

Ooh that looks like how movies should be watched 🙂 Mind you for lack of babysitters it’s been so darn long I would settle for a rug on the floor so long as someone was looking after my little ones at home

Always good to spoil yourself. We did something like that years ago on Valentine’s Day at Montecasino. Very swish.

As parents its not always easy to do things like these without alot of planning.

That sounds fantastic! Would love to know what the food costs though – seeing as just popcorn at the normal movies is already a rip off.

Platters range from R69 to R130 (just need to check with relevant prestige theatre) so instead of dinner at a restaurant you could do platters instead.
