Pregnancy Sense launch

Pregnancy Sense launch

This past Saturday I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the Pregnancy Sense book launch which was hosted at Kids Emporium in Durbanville which was such a blessing as it’s just a stone throw away from my home.

We were welcomed by Meg Faure, a Mom, Occupational Therapist, writer and speaker and also the rock star behind the Baby Sense company.

I must admit it’s a bit overwhelming to be greeted by Meg knowing what an absolute LEGEND she is (star struck, possibly the Mom equivalent to meeting Beyoncé). But I kept my calm and introduced myself and told her a bit about my blog.

Over the years I have attended a few of her workshops and every time I leave I have felt encouraged and empowered in my Parenting journey. She’s practical, intelligent and she just gets it.

If you haven’t heard about the Sense series books, where have you been? The books cover everything from Pregnancy till Toddlerhood (not sure if that is actually a word).

I’m definitely a little baby obsessed so I jumped at the opportunity to attend, really think I missed my calling… Anyways.

The venue could not have been more perfect, baby central I tell you. So much has changed since I was pregnant and Kids Emporium definitely has you covered. I definitely need to go back soon and actually explore the store, jam packed full of awesome brands! Some familiar and others I’m yet to discover. I popped in at the Stores relaunch hosted earlier this month and it was great to see the owner is actually a familiar face, meet Suzette, our kiddies actually attended school together. It’s always great seeing Moms rocking Motherhood and a business – high five girl!

High five to Mompreneurs everywhere!

You absolutely need to go and check out the newly relaunched Kids Emporium store in Durbanville

Birth – your baby’s entry into our world – is a profoundly significant moment, one you don’t get to repeat. Being empowered with knowledge, understanding your choices and being active in the process will make a huge difference. Ultimately it does not matter how your baby is born; what matters is how you experience it and that it is safe.

Then onto our guest speaker and co-authors;

In 2001, after the birth of her second baby, Meg felt compelled to write a parenting book that guided parents to read their baby’s signals and understand their little ones. I asked Ann Richardson, a friend and colleague to join me on the journey of writing Baby Sense.

Sleep, being the biggest challenge of the first year of life was the natural progression and we followed Baby Sense with Sleep Sense in 2007.

Thereafter, dietician Kath Megaw and paediatrician Simon Strachen and I teamed up to look at the exciting task of feeding babies and wrote Feeding Sense.

Finally in 2011 Meg wrote a full colour version of Baby Sense – The Baby Sense Secret (Your Sensory Baby) and in 2016 she co-authored the newest addition to the Baby Sense family, Pregnancy Sense.

I must say even though my boys are 3 and 7, I’m thoroughly enjoying reading through this book and if we do decide on trying for baby number 3 one day I will definitely be more prepared.

So if you’ve just found out your pregnant or would love to give a special something to a friend then be sure to get yourself a copy!
