QUICK ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND GETAWAYS ARE MY FAVOURITE TYPE OF TRAVEL WITH THE HUSBAND!

Carl and I do our best to make time for one another, but with busy work schedules and being parents of 3 kids with their own commitments I feel like all we’re doing is playing catch up.

Every so often the stars align and we’re able to find a babysitter for all the kids and that’s when a weekend escape is welcomed. Being away from the kids is always a little bit challenging logistically but living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world opens up a huge amount of destinations within reasonable travel time for us.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD A ROMANTIC GETAWAY WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER?

Gone are the days where I can spend hours researching accommodation, now with 15 minutes to spare I turn to Travelstart and with a few clicks finding accommodation is a breeze.

THE PLAN

When planning an anniversary getaway we know we can’t be away from the kids for an extended period of time and we don’t want to be too far away – just in case of any emergencies – which means a maximum of 2 hours driving would be just perfect.

So if you’re dreaming about romance on the beach or an adventure or a combination of both, keep reading for some utterly romantic getaway ideas which you can explore during the month of LOVE!

EVERYTHING ABOUT GREYTON IS SIMPLY CHARMING

A short hour and half away from Cape Town is the picturesque sleepy Overberg village of Greyton. Don’t be fooled by this quaint little town, they’re geared for travelers both near and far. The best way to explore Greyton’s leafy lanes is on foot, eating and drinking as you go along.

TAKE A BREAK FROM RELAXING AND EXPLORE IN PATERNOSTER

Paternoster is one of the oldest villages along the West Coast and a very popular holiday destination. Imagine strolling hand-in-hand with someone special along white sandy beaches, dining on amazing seafood and ending the evening with a glass or 2 of champers.

STAYCATION IN THE MOTHER CITY

Even if you decide to keep it local and opt for a staycation for a day or two in Cape Town, it is so worth it to go and explore the city centre. Having lived in Cape Town for the majority of my life,

Between the museums, the V & A Waterfront, the gardens, the mountains and the ocean, you cannot go wrong.

Grab a bike from Up Cycles at the Sea Point Pavilion and ride along the coast to make the most of your weekend getaway together stopping to enjoy a meal or a drink at one of Cape Town’s many restaurants or pack a picnic and enjoy a candlelight dinner on the beach.

The beauty of Cape Town is that it appeals to both the budget-conscious and luxurious traveler. There really is something for everyone.

SWEET SWELLENDAM

If tranquility is what you’re after, look no further than Swellendam , the third oldest town in South Africa. Sit back and relax while marveling in Gods beauty with the magnificent view of the luscious Langeberg Mountain range.

Be sure to check out Visit Swellendam where they’ve actually created a sample itinerary for your visit based on your length of stay.
