Olwethu Leshabane – MC of the #MeetUp with Meg Faure

Olwethu Leshabane, is a 28-year-old wife and mother if three boys; Mikaili – 7, Morgan – 5 and Malik – 5 Months. She is a brand strategist with expertise in digital and through the line marketing and advertising. Her passion for female empowerment has led her to make a positive difference in the lives of others through her organization, The Red Wings Project, which aims to address the lack of adequate sanitary education, access to water and sanitation facilities for underprivileged women and girls in Africa.

Meg Faure

Meg is an Occupational Therapist with a special interest in babies and toddlers – specifically irritable infants; sleep problems, emotional engagement difficulties and fussy feeding. Her clinical practice is in Cape Town and she consults and speaks internationally too.  Passionate about parenting babies, Meg seeks to assist parents to nurture their baby’s emotional world in all her areas of work:

  • Meg has co-authored Baby Sense, Sleep Sense, Feeding SenseThe Baby Sense SecretPregnancy Sense and Weaning Sense. Her seventh book, Allergy Sense launches next year.
  • Always seeking practical solutions for parenting, Meg founded the Baby Sense product brand, which she sold in 2014.
  • In 2016, she launched a toddler playgroup solution called Play Sense.

Jonathan Kaplan

Former international rugby referee with a record for most international test appearances as well as various other longevity records, these days however Kaplan is transferring the skills he learned on the rugby field into something far more challenging … fatherhood.  Having chosen to parent a child via surrogacy Kaplan, like any new parent, has had to figure things out along the way. His situation, however, is more unique than most and he details that journey in his new book, Winging It.  The book, written with author Joanne Jowell, sees Kaplan unpack the surrogacy process from beginning to end as he opens on his decision to become a father.

 

Dr. Danielle Prime

Danielle is a lactation scientist, as an expert in the hormone oxytocin – essential for the release of breast milk – her research has contributed to the understanding of how lactation works. She conducts international clinical studies as part of the research department at Medela, helping create and shape evidence-based information and education.

As an international speaker, she aims to piece together the story of how milk production works, and keeps abreast of the latest discoveries in the science of human milk. Danielle is a co-author of a new eBook ‘The Amazing Science of Mother’s milk’ bringing the facts and busting the myths!

Priya Naicker

As Advice Manager at Old Mutual Personal Finance, Priya’s role focuses on the design, implementation and custodianship of the financial advice proposition delivered by these channels.

Priya has spent the past ten years in the financial services industry across various disciplines. Her experience includes:

  • Design and proposition management of financial products and tools
  • Implementation of distribution strategy
  • Translation of product, regulatory and business objectives into marketing strategies, and most recently advice.

 

Janice Windt

Janice Windt is the Founder and CEO of the Working Mothers Expo.  She is also a wife and mother, a lover of music, authentic conversation and long walks in the park.  She loves God, her family and her work in that order.

Over the past five years, Janice has met with and interviewed hundreds of working mothers from seventeen countries around the world and written extensively on work life balance.    She has also designed a life changing Time Management Makeover course for working mothers, which has recently been taken online.

 

Dr Tom Mokaya

Doctor Tom Mokaya is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with close to 20 years of experience with a special interest in female fertility and infertility conditions, and is dedicated to supporting women achieve optimal health.

Throughout pregnancy it is necessary to ensure that the health of the woman is optimised to provide an ideal environment for the development and growth of her baby – allowing the safe delivery of a strong, healthy baby.

Dr. Alison Bentley

Dr. Alison Bentley is Medical Director at SleepMD, she has over 30 years of experience in treating patients with sleep problems – both adults and children. Dr. Bentley was previously manager of the first clinical sleep lab in private practice in South Africa, as well as Head of Research at the Wits Dial.a.Bed Sleep Laboratory.

Dr. Bentley is also currently editor of Sleep Matters, a publication now in its 6th year that is sent to 2 000 doctors quarterly.

Letshego Zulu

Letshego Zulu, health and fitness enthusiast and passionate athlete, is a qualified biokineticist whose primary aim and focus is to transform the face of health and fitness.

Dr. Britta McLaren

Britta is a paediatrician and mom to Rachel, who has taught her more about babies then any of her degrees! She runs a practice from Mediclinic Morningside and is currently doing a fellowship in paediatric pulmonology. Her special interests are breastfeeding, feeding difficulties and allergies.

Dr. Tony Karpelowsky

Tony is a chiropractor who has treated babies and children for close to 20 years, focussing mainly on infantile colic, reflux, sleeping difficulties and autism. He is passionate about his work and about paediatric spinal health.

 

Lulu Becker

Lulu is a pelvic health specialist Physiotherapist, yoga teacher and Mother to two little girls.  After 11 years in London, she and her family moved back to Durban at the end of 2017, and are so happy to back in sunny SA!  In London, Lulu specialised as a Women’s health Physio, treating women for urinary incontinence and pelvic pain.

Ann Richardson

Qualified Nurse and Midwife Ann Richardson, has worked in the midwifery and paediatric fields for over 30 years and has numerous certificates in child health, sensory integration, vaccinology, asthma and allergy, nutrition travel and sleep medicine.  Ann runs a busy well baby clinic in Johannesburg focusing on:

  • child health,
  • travel health,
  • immunization,
  • nutrition,
  • growth and development,
  • specializes in the treatment of “fussy babies and toddlers” – in particular those with feeding and sleeping disorders

Ann has co-authored international bestsellers, Baby sense; Sleep Sense and is the author of the international best seller Toddler Sense.

Craig Wilkinson

Craig is a bestselling South African author, award winning social entrepreneur, sought after inspirational speaker and Dad Coach. He is passionate about equipping men to be great fathers and leaders. Founder of Father a Nation (FAN), an NPO which restores men to true masculinity and authentic fatherhood. He believes that if we can heal men we can heal the world.

Kath Megaw

Katherine Megaw qualified in 1995 as a registered dietitian and then studied a specialist diploma from Johns Hopkins in the USA where she qualified as a clinical paediatric dietitian.

Katherine currently runs a paediatric dietetic practice in Cape Town and consults via Skype both nationally and internationally. She has co-authored Feeding Sense and Weaning Sense, with Meg Faure, The Low Carb Solution for Diabetics, and has authored Real Food for Happy Healthy Children.
